Dead Celebrity Disco with special guests Ssion!!!
Wednesday, April 29th, 2009Friday, May 8th @ Slowdown, Goo presents:

We contemplated the fact that Courtney Love might be upset about this use of this image of the talking Kurt Cobain action figure, but then we contemplated how much money she probably makes off those things, so fuck it!
We’re throwing this party to honor our beloved and departed celebrities, as well as a genre of music which was prematurely declared deceased — disco! Disco is as prevalant as ever! If you don’t believe us, ask A-Trak who posted this excellent Giorgio Moroder classic on his Infinity + 1 promotional calendar.

More proof that disco is a valid musical expression is the work of Arthur Russell. There’s a great new documentary about Arthur called Wild Combination available on DVD From Palm Pictures. Chalk up this post as one more blog for Chuck Russell to check out! Our favorite Arthur Russell tunes are the disco jams he did under the name Dinosaur L.

And then there’s our special guests, Ssion!

The Ssion already have a bit of disco influence, as much as say, Madonna did early in her career, but this stellar Glass Candy remix adds a little of that Italian disco flavor we love so much.
